White House says ‘unfamiliar person’ surprised Biden’s dog in response to ‘biting incident’

White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded to reports that Major and Champ Biden, the president’s dogs, had been sent to Delaware following a “biting incident,” saying that Major had been surprised by an “unfamiliar person” and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the person. She said that the two dogs had been sent to Delaware, but it had been previously planned for them to be cared for by family friends as first lady Jill Biden was visiting military bases and the dogs would return to the White House soon.
