During Question Period on Monday, Conservative MP Candice Bergen asked Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan why he was more concerned about defending his “battle buddy than the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces” after former military ombudsman, Gary Walbourne, testified before a Defence committee that he brought an allegation of misconduct against then-chief of the defence staff Gen. Jonathan Vance to Sajjan directly in March 2018. Sajjan said he disagrees with those claims and the assertions of Bergen. Sajjan says he “looks forward to setting the record straight” when he gets a chance before the committee.
