Quebec Premier François Legault said Wednesday he is maintaining restrictions in the Montreal area because public health authorities fear a novel coronavirus variant could cause rising case numbers and hospitalizations in the region. Residents of Quebec City and other parts of the province will move to the “orange” pandemic-alert level starting on March 8, he said.
