Trudeau says government takes misconduct allegations against former top military officials ‘extremely seriously’

Global News’ Ottawa Bureau Chief Mercedes Stephenson asked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday about misconduct allegations against former top military officials, something Trudeau says his government is taking “extremely seriously.” He added “we know these problems have been going on for many, many years in many systems and institutions and we need to change them. We have taken significant steps but as has been highlighted, there’s always more to do.” As of Friday the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) is investigating both Chief of Defence Staff Adm. Art McDonald, who stepped aside late Wednesday night, and former chief of defence staff Gen. Jonathan Vance, who is facing allegations of inappropriate behaviour from two female subordinates.
