Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday said that he had spoken with President Joe Biden who told him Thursday night that he would approve the major disaster declaration that the state was submitting. He said they were waiting on confirmation of the approval. Abbott said the approval would give Texans the ability to apply for assistance from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which would then provide them with funding to help fix damages to their homes that their insurance companies don’t cover.
