The lawyers of former president Donald Trump spoke following his acquittal and read out a statement by Trump, which labelled the impeachment trial as “another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country.” Former aide and legal team member Jason Miller read out the statement by Trump, which thanked the senators who voted to acquit him and said that the “witch hunt” continues because “our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people … who voted for us just a few short months ago.” He also said in the months ahead he has “much to share” with the people who voted for him.
