German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Monday in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart that Russia must immediately release opposition leader Alexei Navalny following his arrest at the airport Sunday afternoon. He added that Russia must uphold the rule of law and its international obligations and release Navalny.
