Washington, D.C. police chief Robert Conte on Monday discussed the riot at the U.S. Capitol last week and said he had 56 officers “and counting,” injured during the attack and said some were Iraq veterans who told him that it was scarier than combat, and that they were “not just in a fight for their lives, but for the democracy of this country.”
