It’s official – The Canadian Canoe Museum is moving to Johnson Park. The announcement was made Tuesday. The Museum had initially planned to build a new, state-of-the-art facility beneath the Peterborough Lift Lock in East City. But that plan was scrapped earlier this year after an environmental study revealed on-site soil contamination. That launched a renewed search for a new location, and Johnson Park was quickly identified as a top runner. The city-owned property sits on the shores of Little Lake, just north of Beavermead Park. Canadian Canoe Museum Executive Director Carolyn Hyslop joined Global News Morning Peterborough to talk about what the selection means, and what steps the Museum now has to take as it moves forward.
