Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam said on Tuesday that although Canada has not yet seen the new strain of the coronavirus, “it wouldn’t surprise me that this variant is in many different countries.” Tam added that by preparing in advance, they would be able to detect it should it appear in Canada.
