As the world ground to a halt to contain the deadly spread of COVID-19, Canada’s foreign affairs minister led a frenzied effort to repatriate tens of thousands of Canadians stranded abroad. In a year-end interview with ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson, François-Philippe Champagne recounts his desperate push to bring Canadians home, including texting his counterparts abroad to reopen airspaces and deserted airports.
