Kremlin officials in Russia said they were pleased with the shortening of its ban from Olympic events, reducing the length of sanctions against it until 2022, instead of four years. The sanctions were put in place by global anti-doping authorities in response to Moscow intentionally providing it with doctored lab data that could have identified drug cheats, something Russia denies.
