After being nominated for the role of Transportation Secretary in president-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet, former mayor of South Bend, Ind., Pete Buttigieg on Wednesday responded to the selection, stating there’s “a lot at stake” for newer generations in infrastructure policy. Buttigieg is the first openly gay man in U.S. history to be nominated to a federal cabinet post.
