A bakery in the City of Kawartha Lakes has crafted a gingerbread project of the village’s main street to help support women and children affected by domestic violence.
Sarah Chomko‘s street scene, from the local show store to the bakery, is about 12 feet long and is featured in the storefront of Bobcaygeon Bakery on King St.
Each year, Chomko creates a gingerbread structure (a canoe, castle or train station – to name a few) and enters the Santa Day Gingerbread Contest in nearby Fenelon Falls.
That event, like countless others, has been cancelled this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
Nevertheless, Chomko wanted to build and add to the front window for another year.
The tasty buildings are in support of Women’s Resources, shelter and counselling for abused women and children.
If you would like to support her efforts you can sponsor a building, or make a donation.
The community is encouraged to come check out the completed display at 9 King Street East which will be on display until Dec. 22.
