Coronavirus: FDA commissioner comments on reported allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines

When discussing the COVID-19 vaccine on CNN Sunday, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Stephen Hahn advised that anyone with known allergies to the ingredients in the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine not take it. Hahn added that while they don’t think it’s a “highly frequent issue that will arise,” vaccine and medical product safety are “top of mind.” The U.K. reported two people with a history of serious allergies had experienced a reaction to the vaccine, though both had treatment and are doing fine.
