Retired Gen. Rick Hillier, who is overseeing Ontario’s vaccine rollout, said Thursday that he expects Moderna’s vaccine candidate to be approved for use in Canada by the end of December and that the province will be able to set up special vaccination sites in long-term care homes at that time. He said the Moderna vaccine is more suitable for long-term care homes because it is “easier to handle” than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
