Fire destroyed a house on Hwy. 7A in Cavan Monaghan Township on Wednesday morning. Crews responded to the blaze at the home in a heavily wooded around 11 a.m. Firefighters say the blaze started in the garage. All nine occupants were able to safely escape and were treated by paramedics at the scene. Firefighters from Cavan Monaghan, Otonabee-South Monahgan and Selwyn townships and the City of Kawartha Lakes battled the blaze. The cause of the fire has yet to be released.
