First Mi’kmaw MP elected to House of Commons says community has shown ‘commitment’ to Canada

A Nova Scotia MP, who is also the first Mi’kmaw Member of Parliament to be elected to the House of Commons, spoke during an emergency debate on Monday evening about the Nation’s commitment to Canada. He said that the Mi’kmaq are being forced to ask for a right “they always had” and said the fact that they aren’t looking for reparations “shows our commitment to this country.”
