Coronavirus: Angela Merkel urges Germans to curb social contacts, reduce travel as COVID-19 cases rise

Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday urged Germans to curb social contacts and keep travel to a minimum as the country’s COVID-19 case numbers continued to rise, stating that “every day counts.” Germany’s infection rates hit a daily record of 7,830 on Saturday, according to the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases.
