Former Montreal police officer named new minister of Indigenous affairs

Premier François Legault has named Ian Lafrenière to replace Sylvie D’Amour as Indigenous affairs minister. The move came after the Legault government was severely criticized for its response to the death of Joyce Echaquan and for moving too slowly on implementing recommendations to combat racism.
