Indigenous services minister says events experienced by Joyce Echaquan are ‘the worst expressions of racism’

Canadian Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller on Thursday expressed his condolences to the family of Joyce Echaquan following her death at the Joliette hospital in Quebec, calling the events that she, her family and community endured “the worst expressions of racism.” Miller also said that he and other ministers will be reaching out to Indigenous partners to convene an “urgent meeting to address racism experienced by Indigenous peoples in Canada’s health-care system.”
