Coronavirus: Ottawa reaches agreement for 20.5M rapid antigen tests for detecting COVID-19

Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu announced Tuesday that Health Canada had approved its first rapid antigen test for detecting COVID-19; the Panbio test from Abbott Rapid Diagnostics in Germany. Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand added that the federal government has reached an agreement to purchase up to 20.5 million tests, which could produce results in as little as 20 minutes.
