U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday said the ban announced on TikTok by the Commerce Department, which will see a ban on downloads in the country on Sunday and full ban by Nov. 12, was about protecting American data from “ending up in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.” He also said they are reviewing the proposal by California tech giant Oracle to take over U.S. operations for the app.
