The attorney for George Floyd’s family, Ben Crump, on Friday criticized the lawyers defending the officers for attempting to use a defence that the 46-year-old Black man was a “danger to the community.” He said they also were trying to argue Floyd died from an overdose, saying the only overdose that killed Floyd “was an overdose of excessive force and racism by the Minneapolis Police Department.”
