Residents of Lafayette, La. on Saturday protested in the streets a day after Trayford Pellerin, a Black man who police alleged had a knife and was trying to enter a convenience store, was shot and killed by officers. City officials said after a period of peaceful protests, violence later allegedly broke out near a police department precinct and force was used to stop the demonstrations.
