Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on Tuesday spoke about becoming Canada’s first female federal finance minister, saying she’s conscious of that fact and that “it’s about time we broke that glass ceiling,” and encouraged women across Canada to continue breaking their own. She also said she’s glad she has the experience as a woman and mother to the job, saying that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, women’s participation in the workforce has fallen “sharply” and is hitting mothers “hard.”
