Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned of “serious injuries” during a “major incident” after a passenger train derailed amid a night of storms and flooding in Aberdeenshire. Smoke could be seen billowing from a woodland area near Stonehaven, just south of the oil city of Aberdeen, after the ScotRail train derailed following heavy rain overnight. U.K PM Boris Johnson tweeted “I am saddened to learn of the very serious incident in Aberdeenshire and my thoughts are with all of those affected. My thanks to the emergency services at the scene.”
