Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam said on Friday that it is important to have multiple health and safety measures in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread when schools begin to reopen, as physical distancing may not always be possible in school settings. She said this could include adding additional layers of protection like non-medical masks, as well as providing alternatives to in-person learning.
