Trump says using White House for nomination speech would be ‘legal’

U.S. President Donald Trump fought back against Sen. John Thune’s suggestion that it could be illegal for the president to deliver his nomination speech in the Oval Office. Trump said the Hatch Act would not prohibit the speech as the act does not apply to the president, and that delivering the speech from the White House “would save tremendous amounts of money.”
