Joe Biden calls Trump ‘first’ racist U.S. president elected in country’s history

During a virtual town hall on Wednesday, former U.S. vice-president and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said that President Donald Trump was the “first” racist president that has been elected in the country’s history. While Biden made the claim, history has shown the country has had leaders in the past who were openly racist, such as enslavers, or expressed racist views or language.
