George Floyd death: Officers charged make pre-trial appearance, judge warns of gag order over publicity

Warning: This video contains disturbing content. Discretion advised. The four officers charged in the death of George Floyd made a second pre-trial appearance on Monday where the judge warned both defendants and their attorneys that he would issue a gag order if any make public comments about the merits of the case, evidence, guilt or innocence. The first trial is expected to begin in July. Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn. on Memorial Day. He died of asphyxiation as a result of a white police officer kneeling on his neck for nearly nine minutes while other officers pinned him to the ground. Floyd’s death sparked weeks of global protests against anti-Black racism and police brutality.
