Hundreds of protesters in Seattle gathered in new police-free zone that they call the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” or “CHAZ” after blocking streets and setting up tents in the area. This came in protests after George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis, MN on Memorial Day. Floyd died of asphyxiation as a result of a white police officer kneeling on his neck for nearly nine minutes while other officers pinned him to the ground.
