Prior to signing an executive order on police reform, U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that “Americans believe” accountability within police forces must be improved, transparency needs to be increased and more resources must be invested in police training, recruiting and community engagement. “Reducing crime and raising standards are not opposite goals,” Trump said, while stating opposition to dismantling police departments.
