Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced on Monday that she would be signing administrative orders to adopt and implement reforms of the standard operating procedures and work rules of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) concerning use-of-force policies. She said it will include addressing response to resistance regarding use of deadly force “in accordance with the principle” and that police should only use the amount of objectively reasonable force to protect themselves, arrest or bring an incident under control.
