Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan spoke Thursday about the toppling of the Christopher Columbus statue in St. Paul, Minn. earlier that day with Walz saying that there would be consequences but they need to have discussions with the public about removing controversial statues. Flanagan added that they need a better process regarding imagery and statues at the Capitol building and grounds, but said she would not “shed a tear” about the “loss” of the Columbus statue.
