White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said during a briefing on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump is “appalled” by nation-wide calls from many people to defund police forces, meaning lowering police budgets and allocating those funds elsewhere in community. Calls for the defunding of police forces come after the death of an unarmed Black man in Minneapolis, George Floyd, who died while in police custody.
