U.S. Attorney General William Barr denied during an interview Sunday on CBS’ Face The Nation that peaceful protesters outside the White House were gassed this past Monday ahead of a move by President Donald Trump to walk to St. John’s Church for a photo op. He also said that he gave the go ahead to move the perimeter around the White House ahead of Trump’s speech and at the time claimed he did not know that the president would walk across where the demonstrators had been to the church.
