Alberta partners with police to create provincial firearms examination unit

Premier Jason Kenney announced a provincial firearms examination unit in partnership with RCMP, Edmonton and Calgary police, and ALERT, aimed at speeding up testing of guns that have been seized as evidence in criminal investigations – most of which currently have to be analyzed at the RCMP’s National Forensic Laboratory Services in Ottawa. He also spoke about the creation an Alberta Firearms Advisory Committee.
