George Floyd death: Rev. Al Sharpton, Eric Garner’s mother call for ban on police chokeholds

Some lawmakers and civil rights leaders, including Rev. Al Sharpton and the mother of the late Eric Garner, called for an end to police brutality, in particular for a law banning the use chokeholds by law enforcement officers, in New York City on Tuesday. Sharpton also called for an end to looting, stating that looting is not activism. This comes after an unarmed Black man, George Floyd, died in police custody on Memorial Day while an officer kneeled on Floyd’s neck for several minutes, until he became unresponsive.
