U.S. Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty, a Black congresswoman from Ohio, said she was sprayed with what was described as pepper spray or mace during a protest over the death of George Floyd in Columbus on Saturday. Columbus City Council President, Shannon Hardin, posted a video to Twitter following the incident with Beatty and Franklin County Commissioner, Kevin Boyce, saying that “the only way we will get change is by peaceful demonstrations.”
