The lawyer for George Floyd’s family, Lee Merritt, said on Friday the charge of third-degree murder and manslaughter against now-former police officer Derek Chauvin, who was seen on video kneeling on Floyd’s neck on Monday until he became unresponsive, was “deflating.” He went on to say that “while the appropriate charge is murder,” they believe the other officers involved should’ve been charged too.
