During an unrelated briefing on Friday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called George Floyd’s death “horrible” and “very, very painful,” and called for action to be taken “immediately.” The mayor said that if a similar police altercation takes place in the city New York City as it had in Minneapolis, immediate action will be taken in New York City to prevent future incidents.
