International Development Minister Karina Gould announced earlier on Tuesday that Canada will put $790 million toward vaccinating the world’s most vulnerable populations through the Global Alliance for Vaccine Innovation (GAVI) initiative. Speaking to reporters outside Rideau cottage on Tuesday morning, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised the recently-announced financial contribution and stressed that any solution to COVID-19 would need to be a global one.
