Italy began easing restrictions after being under lockdown for two months as parks opened and some people were able to go back to work. France and Germany reopened two border crossings that were previously closed to slow the spread of COVID-19. Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe extended the country’s state of emergency to May 31. Even though the country has not seen any recent surges in case numbers, the Prime Minister says he still ‘feels’ it needs to be extended. Russian jets rehearsed for an air show for Victory Day coming up on May 9, despite quarantine measures still in place. After being in lockdown for several weeks, South Koreans saw restrictions eased, meaning many headed out on shopping sprees, which some are referring to as a ‘revenge shop.’
