Swedish city spreads chicken manure in park to deter crowds

The city of Lund, Sweden, has spread chicken manure in a park in the center of town with the hope that the smell will deter crowds gathering to celebrate Walpurgis Night on April 30.
Philip Sandberg, chairman of the municipal council in Lund, said in a post on Facebook that the city would be making a “temporary departure from our local environmental regulations to spread out a ton of chicken manure during the day today and tomorrow on the lawn in the city park.”
He continued by saying that sitting in a park that stinks of chicken manure would not be pleasant, and indicated leaf blowers and other devices would be used to create noise to further deter crowds.
According to local reports, drones will also monitor the area for parties and other celebrations. Swedes traditionally gather around bonfires on Walpurgis Night to mark the end of wintertime.
