New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio commented on Wednesday after police went to the funeral Tuesday evening of Rabbi Chaim Mertz, who died from COVID-19. Police said more than 2,500 people were in attendance. “I have a lot of love for the community. The notion that people would gather in large numbers, and even if they didn’t mean to would spread a disease that will kill other members of that community is just unacceptable to me,” De Blasio said.
