Coronavirus outbreak: Trump agrees to waive FEMA costs on New York amid the pandemic

New York governor Andrew Cuomo said on Wednesday that President Trump has agreed to waive what’s called the State/FEMA match which states have to pay the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in emergency situations like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuomo said if the cost wasn’t waived it would’ve been a “cruel irony for New York” to penalize the state for having the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and therefore making NY pay the highest cost.
