Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer said during a press conference on Sunday that he “strongly believes that parliament is an essential service,” calling on the government to accept what he calls a “common sense proposal” from the opposition.
He said the conservative party is asking to continue to hold in-person sittings that should happen three times each week, and parliament must remain open “so we can improve government programs and policies and get better results for Canadians.”
He added that he “remains hopeful” the government will accept the proposal as negotiations are still going.
