An experimental drug, Remdesivir, is undergoing studies to determine if it could become the first approved treatment for COVID-19. The drug, originally tested to treat ebola, is showing through early data it may be effective in combating COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Numerous studies are looking into the drug and the University of Chicago Medicine said it would be “premature” to draw conclusions from the current data, though the Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Adarsh Bhimraj called it “encouraging.”
