Medical staff of Northwell Health network greeted 46 nurses who arrived in New York from all over the country on Tuesday with signs and applause, with the Executive VP and Chief Nurse Executive Maureen White saying 2020 was “the year of the nurse,” as they looked forward to reinforcements in their battle against the novel coronavirus.
The largest healthcare provider in New York state, the epicentre of the pandemic, Northwell Health has sought outside medical staffing to help it buttress efforts to treat an influx of patients at 18 hospitals across New York City, Long Island and Westchester counties.
